Ways You Can Help PCS
Support our School Library: Expanding our library collections
to meet, and eventually exceed, the American Library Association’s standard
of a minimum number of 20 books per student is a goal we take seriously and
are striving to meet on an annual basis.
Rosalind C. Wiggins To honor the racial
and social justice legacy and passion of our special friend Rosalind (Posy),
The Rosalind C. Wiggins Collection is our first named collection at Paul
Cuffee School. Established in 2005, the spacious shelves in our library
rooms include books and resources by and about African Americans for
multi-generational readers. There is also an endowment in Posy’s name
managed by the Rhode Island Foundation to support the annual growth of the
Rosalind C. Wiggins Collection at Paul Cuffee School.
If you prefer that
your gift be added to this special fund for future purchases, please mention
the "R.C. Wiggins Endowment" when you make your donation. To add a new book to
the "Wiggins Collection" this year, please designate the Wiggins Fund in the
memo area of your check to Paul Cuffee School. Give to the PCS Annual Fund: Since state funding doesn’t cover our entire operating budget, the PCS Annual Fund is a great way for you to help support the daily costs of providing a high quality education to our students. Donations go toward special program expenses such as swimming lessons for each child, field trips, special guests, extracurricular activities, teacher training, instructional materials and books, computer equipment, supplemental services and unexpected educational opportunities during each fiscal year. To make a donation, make your check payable to Paul Cuffee School and send it to the Paul Cuffee School Annual Fund at 459 Promenade Street, Providence, RI 02908. You may also make a donation using your MasterCard or Visa or by transferring stock. For more information, please contact: Dulibel Ureña at 401-453-2626 x130 or by email: durena@paulcuffee.org, or Julia Karahalis at 401-453-2626 x118 or email: jkarahalis@paulcuffee.org. [top] Donations through the Fund for Community Progress: Please designate Paul Cuffee School as your charity of choice when you sign up for workplace giving through the Fund for Community Progress.Click here to read more. [top] Help Build a K-12 Campus for PCS Students: All students deserve to learn in bright, clean, well-designed school buildings. Because Paul Cuffee School operates as our own school district, we must raise 70% of the millions of dollars needed to purchase and improve our facilities. In order to maintain our cohesive school community as we implement our K-12 expansion plans, we must purchase land nearby our elementary school and raise more than $20 million to build a middle and high school campus. We need everyone’s donations, small and large, to secure appropriate facilities for our K-12 programs. To find out more about how you can help build a bright future for Paul Cuffee students, please contact: Julia Karahalis, Director of Development at 401-453-2626 x118 or email jkarahalis@paulcuffee.org. [top] Leave a Legacy Gift: Some of our donors have already made arrangements to make sure that Paul Cuffee School is supported in the years beyond their lifetimes. Your heirs can pay fewer estate taxes and you can leave a legacy too by designating Paul Cuffee School as a beneficiary in your will, for your qualified retirement funds (IRA, 401k, or 403b), or on your life insurance policies. Please contact your attorney, accountant, financial planner or your insurance sales representative to find out how you can include Paul Cuffee School in your estate plans. Continuing to make a difference in the world, year after year, is something most of us aspire to do. If you choose to leave a legacy gift to Paul Cuffee School through your will, retirement plan, a special charitable trust or life insurance policy, please let us know with a letter or phone call to: Paul Cuffee School’s Development Office at 459 Promenade Street, Providence, RI 02908 or 401-453-2626 x118. [top] Target Take Charge of Education Program: Use your Target Visa or Target Card and you can help our school. We will receive a percentage of the amount of each purchase in the form of a cash donation from Target twice a year. It’s easy. Just visit target.com/tcoe or call 1-800-316-6142 to designate our school. [top] Volunteer at our School: Whether it’s reading to a class, sharing a talent or skill, providing an extra pair of hands for a special project, or helping one of our students with their homework, there is always some need that cannot be met without additional help from our friends and families. Hundreds of people volunteer at Paul Cuffee School each year, and their help makes a tremendous difference to all of us. We welcome you to get to know us and one another by contributing in some way to the ongoing improvement and long-term success of our school. If you are a parent of a Paul Cuffee student and would like to find out more about how you can volunteer, please contact Sarah Rich at 401-453-2626 or srich@paulcuffee.org. If you would like to become a friend of the school, call Julia Karahalis, Director of Development at: 401-453-2626x118, jkarahalis@paulcuffee.org. [top] BoxTops for Education: You know those little pink seals on the top of cereal boxes, soup cans, baking mix, flour, crackers and other food items? They’re worth $.10 apiece to Paul Cuffee School if you collect them and send them to our Development Office. We’ll add them all up and send them in for a semi-annual reimbursement check. It doesn’t seem like much, but when we put yours together with everyone else’s, it adds up quickly.
